Τίτλος: Απ: Pattern Coin - 30 Lepta 1862 Αποστολή από: asimako στις Ιούλιος 24, 2014, 06:25:08 μμ Πολύ ωραίο εύρημα, μάλλον όμως είναι 'mule' κι όχι 'pattern' (δοκίμιο) γιατί θα έπρεπε η μία μερά να αναφέρει την BRITANNIA, η χρονολογία να αναφέρεται μια φορά κι όχι δύο, άλλωστε είναι η τελευταία χρονιά έκδοσης (1862) κι είχαν προηγηθεί κι 6 άλλες (1834, 1848, 1849, 1851 και 1857). Επίσης δεν είναι και το μοναδικό mule της νομισματικής αυτής περιόδου. Μπράβο laskaris1254 για την έρευνα 8)

Dear Vasilis, Thank you for contacting the Discovery Centre at Museum Victoria with your enquiry concerning if Museum Victoria’s 30 lepta 1862 Ionian island coins are Medal strike or Coin Strike. We have passed your enquiry on to our coin expert who has responded with the following; This is a question about the die axis which we were/are going to include on the internet. We do not use the medal/coin strike in Australia as our coins are struck with the ‘medal’ alignment. Both of the coins enquired about have the die axis set 12 o’clock, if the coin is held at the edges top and bottom, with the obverse set the correct way up, and rotated then the reverse will be found to be the correct way up too. On coins of the USA the reverse would be found to be upside down – their coins are struck with the dies at 6 o’clock. Anyway, let him know that both are struck with the medal orientation = 12 o’clock = ^^ (these last are arrow heads).
